WAYS TO GIVE
MAKE A DONATION
GIFT AID
Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your donation. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can claim 25p from the Government for every £1 donated, at no extra cost to you.
As a UK taxpayer you will pay tax on your earnings, savings or pensions, at either a basic rate of 20% or a higher rate of 40%. If you make a donation to charity, this donation will come from money that you have already paid tax on. As a charity, we can reclaim this tax back from the Government. This means that if you donate £10, and use Gift Aid, it’s actually worth £12.50. And because this additional money comes to us straight from the Government, not out of your pocket, you would still only be giving us £10 of your own money.

Donate Time
The charity simply could not operate without our team of over 300 dedicated volunteers who donate their time to help across our services.
There are opportunities to volunteer with adults who are lonely or isolated as a Community Friend, or with our Early Onset Dementia groups.
There are also opportunities to volunteer with children through our child contact centres, Safety Rangers initiative, and our colleges.
If you have an interest in retail and customer service, then why not volunteer at our charity shop in Heckmondwike, or volunteer to help on our reception at Brian Jackson House.
You can really help us to make a difference to the lives of others by giving the gift of your time.
To find out more about how you can get involved with volunteering please visit our Volunteer with Us Page.
Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving, also known as Give As You Earn (GAYE), is an easy, and tax effective way to make a regular donations through your salary, so it costs you less to give more.
This enables you to give to us straight from your gross salary (before tax is deducted) giving immediate tax relief on your donations. Anyone whose pay is taxed through PAYE can donate through Payroll Giving.
Payroll Giving is organised and managed through your employer, so you will need to check with your HR department to make sure that your company offers Payroll Giving. If they do, they will arrange your donation through your salary for you.
If you pay the basic tax rate, for every £1 that you earn, 20p is paid in tax. If you pledge £10 a month, we receive the full amount but only £8 will be deducted from your net pay.
If you pay income tax at the higher rate of 40%, if you pledge £10 a month, only £6 would be deducted from your net pay, and at the super rate of 50%, only £5 would be deducted.

Leave a Gift in Your Will
Thank you for considering leaving us a gift in your Will.
Writing a Will is a good way to plan for the needs of your family and loved ones, and by leaving a gift to Yorkshire Children’s Centre, no matter what size, you can positively improve the lives of others and inspire change now and in the future.
If you wish to include National Children’s Centre (Trading as Yorkshire Children’s Centre) in your Will you will need the following information:
Registered Name: National Children’s Centre
Registered Charity No. 288125
Address: New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD1 5JP
We strongly suggest contacting a professional for advice when drawing up or amending your Will.
A solicitor will be able to advise you on leaving charitable gifts when making a Will.
When choosing a solicitor, we suggest you check how much they charge and, if possible, get recommendations from others before enlisting.
You may be entitled to legal aid if you are 70 or over; disabled; a parent of a disabled person and wish for that person to be provided for in the Will; or a single person that wishes to appoint a guardian in the Will. More information can be found at your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
If you decide to leave a gift to our charity, your solicitor may use some specific wording to ensure your wishes are carried out. The suggested wording below covers the main types of charitable gifts:
‘I give to National Children’s Centre, 1 New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD1 5JP, Registered Charity Number 288125, ………………. % of my estate / the sum of £………………. / specific item(s) ………………………………. to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge for my Executors.’
Different Types of Gifts in Wills
Residuary Gift – A gift of any portion of your estate that remains after payment of debts, administration expenses and distribution of any specific gifts.
Pecuniary Gift – A gift of a specific amount of money you desire to donate. Such gifts can be expressed to be ‘index linked’ so the sum gift holds its value in line with inflation.
Specific Gift – A gift of a specific item you wish to leave, for example jewellery, artwork, or furniture.
Many supporters choose to leave a share of their estate (a residuary gift) for the simple reason that it keeps pace with inflation and enables you to ensure that your family and friends are cared for. After you have thought about those closest to you, would you consider leaving just 1% of your estate to National Children’s Centre?
