VOLUNTEER WITH US
Join our volunteering community of wonderful volunteers and start making a real difference in your community. Our volunteers help to enrich the services we offer by supporting our work with children, young people, families, adults and older people. We’re always looking for new volunteers who would like to join us in our mission of improving lives and inspiring change.
Our Volunteering Development Manager, Lucy Martin, is here to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have about volunteering with Fresh Futures. Lucy can update you with all our volunteering opportunities across the charity and support you in your volunteering role.
New Skills
Through volunteering you can take up a new hobby, learn a brand-new skill or improve upon a talent you already had.
Giving Back
Use your free time constructively to improve your local area.
Physical Fitness
Keep active in a volunteering role that benefits your health, too.
New Friends
Volunteering is a great way to meet friendly, like-minded people, which in turn can also boost confidence
Wellbeing
Evidence shows that helping others can benefit our mental health and wellbeing, by reducing stress, as well as improving mood, self-esteem, and happiness.
Do what you love
If you have a real talent for something, or a hobby you would like to teach, why not volunteer your time to help others learn or play.
Belonging
You’ll be a genuine part of a team and be invited to our many volunteering events as well as being the first to hear about upcoming paid roles.
Employability
Many of our employees began their journey as volunteers and we’re proud of our reputation for helping people to use their volunteering as a stepping-stone to work.
Volunteer with Children & Young Adults
Children are at the heart of everything we do, and we always have plenty of opportunities to volunteer at children’s events.
Our volunteers help with facilitating the Child Contact Centres every Saturday. This is run by professional employees and supported by volunteers studying in the field.
Our Safety Rangers events run four times a year for two weeks at a time and are held at local fire stations across Kirklees. Our volunteers help in assisting and organising the event across the two weeks, working alongside the Thriving Kirklees team.
Our alternative provision colleges, for students aged 16-18, work with volunteers frequently, whether that involves a one-off site visit to talk to students about your life-experiences in the world of work, to teach a new skill or to help out in the classrooms/field trips.
Volunteer with Adults
Our Community Friend volunteers visit people weekly in their own home, for company and conversation or call them on the phone to keep them company. As a Community Friend, you are there to provide company and friendship to someone who has been identified as being lonely or isolated.
Volunteer in our Offices
Are you looking to gain work experience in an office setting or build confidence within an administrative or reception role? Or perhaps you have existing work experience in an office role and have some time to donate each week? If so, please get in touch. Our offices, in Batley and Huddersfield, are always looking for keen volunteers who can share their skills to help our services.
Team Building Volunteering Opportunities
Multiple studies show that volunteering improves mental health, lowers blood pressure, and increases happiness. That’s why so many companies undertake volunteering each year in their local community. They want staff to reap the mental, physical, and emotional benefits that come from helping others. No matter what your requirements or preferences, we are sure that there will be something suitable for your team to get stuck into at Fresh Futures.
Volunteering Events
We frequently run volunteering events across our sites. These include training days to provide our volunteers with essential skills, such as Befriending training. We also run events especially for volunteers, to thank you for your contribution to the charity, and we run other social events for service users to attend with volunteers, such as meet and mingle networking events, hands on crafting events, and much more. View our upcoming events and learn how you can get involved.
