Fresh Futures Community ANCHOR

Community Anchor Programme
Supporting communities across North Kirklees

We are proud to deliver the Community Anchor Programme across:

  • Birstall & Birkenshaw
  • Cleckheaton
  • Heckmondwike
  • Liversedge & Gomersal

Our role is to help local groups, organisations and residents build stronger, healthier and more connected communities.

Whether you run an established community organisation, volunteer with a local group, or have an idea for something new, we’re here to support you.

Reducing health inequalities

Everyone should have the opportunity to access activities and support that help them live well.

We focus our work on reaching people and communities who experience the greatest health challenges. By working with a wide range of local groups and organisations, we help ensure activities are inclusive, accessible and responsive to local needs.

Where communities are underrepresented or underserved, we will support the development of new groups and initiatives to help fill those gaps.

By working with health professionals and local partners, we’ll help bring services into community spaces where people already feel comfortable and welcome.

Starting a new group?

If you’re thinking about starting a community group, activity or organisation, we’re here to help.
As your local Community Anchor, we’ll be your first point of contact and can provide guidance, information and practical support to help you take those first steps with confidence.
We can help you:
  • Explore your idea
  • Connect with local organisations and partners
  • Find relevant support and resources
  • Understand what’s already happening locally
  • Build connections within your community
Starting something new can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Support for existing groups and organisations

If you’re already running a community group or organisation, we’re here for you too.
We provide a friendly and consistent point of contact, helping local organisations stay informed, connected and supported.
Through regular communication, networking opportunities and ongoing relationship-building, we help groups access opportunities, share learning and find support when they need it.
Our aim is to ensure that local organisations feel valued, connected and equipped to continue making a difference in their communities.

Quote Mark

“We are really glad that as a small community group we are able to be part of a forum of similar groups that have been set up by the Community Anchor. We can seek help and advice and generally support each other.
